Hi Misty. I just had AI a week ago. I didn't think the procedure was painful at all and believe me, I am a chicken. There was a little discomfort as they guided the tube thru my cervix, into my uterus. I had some cramping and spotting for 1 1/2 days. From doing some research over the web, it seems to be a 15-20 percent chance it will take. What I seem to be having a problem with is getting a straight answer on how long the washed sperm live up in the uterus. They say they live for 12 hours but, I think that means before they are injected. I called my Doc and he says they live for 48-72 hours like normal sperm. I just can't find anywhere to back it up, more from lack if info. See, we went in when my fertility monitor said peak which means I will ovulate in 24-36 hours later, so that is why I am trying to find out how long they live. I hope we didn't miss our window of opportunity. I hope I have helped you.
