Marie,

How close are you to this friend? If you are very close, then I think you should talk to your friend and tell her that although you think your own fertility is unfair, you wish her the best and will be more than happy to come see her new baby. You will be amazed when you hold that baby, how it lightens up your whole day - even though you are having fertility issues. It shows you how miracles do happen.

Now if you are just friends with her, then wish her well and ask that she call you after she has the baby and that you will visit her after she comes home and settles in. That will give you time to adjust to her having a baby.

It's a tough question - one I have dealt with a lot in the last 2 years that I've been trying. Fortunately I haven't had any really close friends having babies, but I did have one friend who was confined to bedrest(in the hospital)and I visited every Saturday and called once a week. But I have yet to go to her home and see the baby. I've seen and held him once when she brought him to the office.

Good luck with your decision
Cindi
