I had irregular periods since age 19 but was diagonized with PCO at age 24. Now I am 30, I have been trying to get pregnant since 3 years no luck. I have not tried continously. I have tried 5-6 times with various levels of clomid, with IUI and HCG shot. I became pregnant once and lasted only a week. They checked for pregnancy after 17 days of HCG shot and said I was pregnant and asked me to go back for a test 2 days later and then again confirmed I was pregnant and the levels were fine and asked me to go back again after 2 more days. I was told that my pregnancy did not continue and harmone levels had dropped.
I tried 1 cycle with Fetinex and the specilist had to stop in the middle of the treatment saying I was over reacting to Fertinex and had made 10-12 possible eggs and they feared it would be multiple pregnancy. PCO patients tend to over react to Fertility drugs is what my specialist mentioned. But I wanted to try and had intercourse inspite of my specialists warning about multiple births. I was told I was pregnant after 17 days. The pregnancy contined for 2 more blood tests what they did over that week and again terminated with HCG harmone levels dropping.
After that I tried 1 cycle of IVF and did not conceive on that.
To date I have tried 6 cycles of Clomid, 1 cancelled cycle with Fertinex and 1 cycle of IVF in the last 3 years. I was told to stay with in 12 cycles of any fertility treatments as the new research with the cancer stuff with fertility drugs. I don't know if I have tried enough. I know that I have clinically become pregnant with each of the types of treatment they gave me except for the 1 cycle of IVF.
I am tempted to try few more cycles but scared that I am reaching the 12 cycle theory(tried 10). Can some one tell me if the 12 cycle limit was told to you also. Also, can some share some experience about the pregnancy stuff what I have explained. Has anyone with PCO going through any fertility treatments was told that you were pregnant and again a week later told the pregnancy did not continue. Has anyone got pregnant and If so can you explain the protocol that was used to keep the pregnancy. I can discuss with my doctor about that.
Hope to hear a response soon. Thanks. --Meena
