Grandma,
The normal point at which you can first detect a fetal heartbeat is 8 weeks. Usually if a heartbeat is not detected the doctor
will either ask you to come back within a week or so to try again or he will send you to a fetal medicine doctor who can perform
a vaginal ultrasound to make sure everything is OK.
