I am a graduate Student at Columbia University working on my masters thesis. I would like to do a documentary that explores the impact of race on infertile couples’ efforts to conceive children. I am particularly interested the availability of eggs/sperm. I want to do a well researched, balanced piece. I, myself, have some medical problems that are likely to make it difficult for me to have my own children. I say this not for sympathy, but because I think it makes me particularly sensitive to women and men trying to have children.
I have two requests:
1) Are there any couples (white, black, Hispanic or Asian) in the NYC/CT/NJ metro area that would be willing to speak to me for background information, or possibly participate in my masters project? (Please contact me for more information on the project and its requirements)
2) Is anyone aware of New York Metro Area/East Coast doctors, anthropologists or ethicists that are knowledgeable of egg/sperm donation/infertility? Are there any books or articles that I should read?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Janell Ross
