I was diagnosed as having PCOS at the age of 18 (after not yet getting my period - ever), subsequent to that my periods have slowly increased in frequency to be 6 weekly (at the age of 27). I am now 30 and we would like to start a family, I have been on the pill from 27-30 and my doctor tells me that the first month off the pill will be our best chance to conceive as my ovaries are "clean" (no build up of cysts). I have noticed since being on the pill that all other symptoms of PCOS have reduced, eg; no more excess hair growth and my weight is under control (with little effort. It seems to be common to use the pill as a treatment for PCOS in Australia, this may be useful to others. I will let you know how we go in the first month
