: : Yes, I'm having that problem continually. I have an HMO that seems to do nothing about it. I think I have taken all the antibiotics i can stand and Im getting immune to them (currently I'm on 5 medicaitons to see if it "clears" up) Next move : OVERRIDE HMO, going to a specialists

: : : Has any adult had any trouble with getting fluid in the eustachian tube and not being able to get rid of it? If so, what did you do about it? Thanks; please

Fluid began accumulating 18 months ago. It was treated with decongestants and antibiotics. Nothing worked. While vacationing on the east coast it mysteriously cleared up.
Approximately 3 weeks after returning, the ear (right) filled up. CAT scans show nothing although one doctor suspected a cerebral leak over the ear. This was dismissed after additional tests.
A tube was inserted after the first 6 months, left in for 3 months then removed. Another tube was inserted at 15 months and remains. Fluid excretes constantly. It is light amber in color and leaves a white, crusty material after drying. Some days there is a gel-like substance present.
I am a long term user of Ambien (5 years) and have a very stressful job. The last medical opinion was to leave the tube in for a year and see what happens.
