: : My son is having a second surgery for this to remove a wall of skin growing rapidly inside his ear. I have not talked with anyone who has even heard of choleasteatoma, just wondering if anyone hear has? : I had a cholesteatoma removed when I was 24. At that time they also had to take one of the hearing bones. : 6 months later I went in and they made sure they had removed all of the cholesteatoma cells and also put : in a prosthetic hearing bone. My hearing is normal and I have only had a couple of bad ear infections. I hope : this helps. *********************** Yep. Sorry to see your child has it. I grew up with it and then finally had radical mastoidectomy couple decades ago. Unfortunately, it has reared its ugly head again recently and I may have to go in for more surgery after all this time. Make sure he has a CT scan. They can see it.
