Two months ago I had a head cold with a terrible headache and pain behind the eyes. It cleared up after five days and I felt okay for about four more days. Then I developed a terrible headache, which later travelled from one part of my face to another. My daughter had the same thing, so I called the pediatric nurse. She said there was a virus going around the middle and high schools (and among adults) which caused headaches but no fever. When I told my primary I had excruciating pain when bending over, he prescribed erithromycin. I felt a little better on that (really bummed that I didn't feel a whole lot better), but when I finished it I felt considerably worse. Now i have stabbing pain in my right temple which seems to travel down to my ear and just throb. It feels like there is fluid or a demon trying to get out of my ear, but I have no drainage. I'm waiting for my HMO to approve a referral to an ENT, but they are dragging their feet while I feel worse. Ibuprofen is the only thing that alleviates the pain, but after four hours I HAVE to have another dose. Now I have pain in the base of my skull when I bend over. Have any of you heard of a virus causing these symptoms? After two months of headaches, I am ready to scream.
