Hi there, not sure if I can help, but i am 30 and have had viral labyrinthitis for 6 years on & off-it started with severe vertigo and dizziness when I had Epstein Barr Virus. I had tests at the neurologist in the chair which they spin you round in and measure your eye movements and then Intensive physio with Cooksey Cawthorne exercises and prochlorperazine tablets. I have had 3 severe attacks in the last 2 years which have left me bedridden for about 6 weeks. To be honest, however many tests you have, there isn't much they can do - the vestibular exercises had a very limited effect and the tablets don't really work. Its pretty frightening (particularly if you are not sure that the diagnosis is correct)and unpleasant to be ill with labyrinthitis, the symptoms are very dramatic, but it does seem to improve of its own accord over time. I think that 2-3 weeks is a fairly optimistic recovery time. After the first attack it took me about six months before I could leave my house alone- as a non- expert, all I can say is that your daughters symptoms sound very like VL. Hope she feel better soon Rae
