: I've currently had my medication for Ibs increased to 3 times a day, will this harm my unborn child? The medication is dicyclomine 10 mg per capsule. Also, could my pregnacy irritate my IBS?
I currently have a dicyclomine prescription, 20mg up to 4/day. I think if you have a good pharamacist, he's the best person to ask about it affecting your baby. I'd suggest you do it immediately! I only take that prescription as needed....do you know that it is only for cramping & gas? It doesn't help any of my other IBS symptoms as far as I know. I think that whether you have the C or D type of IBS that the Metamusil (fiber) regime would be most helpful. (I would check with the pharmacist on that too though.) As to the pregnancy effecting your IBS.....my experience is that any hormone changes make it worse, and I've had it for 30 yrs. Good luck and keep asking questions until you find something that works for you and is safe for unborn baby.
