: Angie - Thanks for your quick response! After browsing through the board, I found it interesting that we all share the common syndrome, but we are all so different! Right now I'm on a one-woman campaign to isolate my "trigger" foods. I know that fat seems to be a killer and I've had to eliminate red meat and most dairy from my diet. However, it's still a "crap shoot" (pun intended) on everything else.

: I would like to know, however, what is suggested to help stop the diarrhea. Rice? Applesauce? RX?

: Also, how do I find out which foods are rich in fiber? Also, how much Metamucil-type product should be taken daily? Mornings? Evenings?

: I am SO exhausted and sore.

: BTW, I AM a writer, so beware of my long "tomes", too.

Dori:
The only things that stopped mine was change in diet, fiber and immodium. I don't recommend the immodium. It seems to make things worse for me. It stops the diarrhea alright...for a whole week. Absolutely nothing happens. So, before the week is over I have to take a laxative to counteract it. Kind of useless actually. So, I only take Immodium now if I'm going on a trip. Fiber helped immediately and of course a change in diet. Sometimes, things you think are your trigger foods may not be. I have what is called the cascade affect. I've eaten something that disagreed with me. My colon becomes irritated to the point where everything disagrees with me. I call it the "cascade effect". That's why after a bout, I try not to eat for 24 hours and start back gradually. For a while, I thought mine was dairy, but it wasn't. My system was just so irritated, my intestines decided to go on strike, not investigate what was coming in and just ship it on out. Just like a kid that gets mad. Nothing is going to satisfy them until it blows over!

: Harry - you seem to be the end-all-and-be-all of fiber? What do you suggest for a IBS neophyte?
