: I'm an earlier Ann that's been posting, so now I'll use Ann S. Anyway, what is Levsin prescribed for... diarrhea, cramping, gas? Levsin is a muscle relaxer that works on parts of the colon. My major pain is caused by cramping and spasms of the colon muscles. The Levsin relaxes those muscles and therefore stops the pain. Everyone is different. IBS is sort of a "trash can" diagnosis. Whatever doesn't fit in any other category---it's IBS. At least that's the way it seems. That means that some people with IBS may actually have different problems and symptoms. That also means that different treatments are needed. Everyone needs to find out what works best for them. There are several other medications that I have read about on this board. I have no experience with them and don't know how they work. Good luck and Good health------twa
