First I would like to know --What type of Software Browser you are using? There are only two people that I have seen on this Board that posts their messages and the orginal message you are responding to is not also displayed??? Just curious.The other person is TK.
I welcome you to this Board! I looked Remeron up in the Physicians Desk Reference and it is an antidepression drug.The use of low doses is based on the work that Dr. Schuster of Johns Hopkins recommended. Ann S. wrote a good message to me about the use of this type drug and the mind-gut connection on 9/1/00. You may want to read it.
To firm up your BMs---I suggest you use a fiber supplement---bulk stool forming agent like Metamucil or Citrucel. Both are water soluble fiber bowel regulators(not laxatives like the label says) and safe to use daily. Just drink plenty of water. If you find that these bloat you too much---you can get psyllium capsules at a health food store. My wife likes these better than the powder you mix with liquid.She takes 4 a day.I have no problem with the powder.You may have gas when you first start using but it will go away after several days.
Some doctors also recommend using essntial fatty acids as a stool forming agent.FLax Seed oil, Evening Primrose oil, Borage oil are all excellent sources. You can buy them in softgel caps from a health food store. Take them with meals and I have found they have a slight sedative effect.
If you have had IBS long --I hope you have ID'ed the foods that trigger problems and have eliminated them from your diet.
