I think that I finally have most of my symptoms mostly under control. When I have problems these days, it almost always can be tracked to stress. I'm even doing better dealing with that.
We recently took a vacation where we drove about 900 miles to see my family. I was terrified before we left of never getting there because we might have to stop at every bathroom along the way. I didn't want to have to take Imodium to get me through. Bottom line (no pun intended), I did just fine! No real problems to speak of! yea! I thought I had it licked!
I live in Xenia, Ohio. Needless to say, I've been under quite a bit of stress since the tornado hit Wednesday night. We were very lucky. My home was not damaged at all. I have three friends who are now homeless but have no physical injuries. I have been helping to feed, clothe, shelter, clear debris...etc. I was amazed that I haven't had any real problem with my IBS through this. Then, last night, after dark when we had all gathered at a friends house (one of the few with power!) for rest and fellowship...and there it is again. Back with a vengence! I was able to hold myself together until I was able to relax some. Then I guess that it all caught up to me. I took a Levsin and it helped quite a bit. I know, I'm rambling again.
My point, are there better ways to deal with this kind of stress than just the normal deep breathing, muscle tensing kinds of stress management excersises? What do ya'll do for stress management?
