: I was dx with IBS. His words were "you probably have Irritable Bowel Syndrome".
: I don't understand how a healthy 42 year old women can be great one week have flu like symptoms the next and three weeks late be dx with IBS. If I came in contact with some parasites which caused the flu (throwing up and diarrhea) is that enough to give me IBS? Thanks for you help?
I wouldn't think so. It sounds like the diarrhea has depleted the good bacteria in your gut. In that situation, try to eat lots of yogurt or you can buy acidopholus powder at the pharmacy and sprinkle it in your drinks or on your food.
This happened to both of my kids when they got the flu. Couldn't get the diarrhea to stop. The dr. suggested yogurt or the acidolphus and it worked within 12 hours. Give it a try, it can't hurt!
