: Had gallbladder surgery a year and a half ago. started the IBS almost immeidately after surgery. Started taking Fibercon for digestive therepy. It worked almost immeidately, started with one in AM and one in PM. After about 6 months I really didn't have to take it anymore.I had started seating a lot of salads and about a month ago it started up again worse than ever. The Fibercon just didn't work this time. Finally went to the Doctor and he put me on Cholestryamine Lte 4 gm. So far it is working quite well.I have resserched this on the internet and found that Drs. are now realizing thaat gallbladder surgery causes this quite often espicially in women. They are recomending Cholestryaime for treatment. I have a sister and three friends that are suffering from the same problem, they are all going to try Cholestryamine Hopoe this is the cure!!!
My mother had gall bladder surgery years ago and developed a problem (not always). It's gotten worse with age. Out of the blue, with no warning feelings, she'll have an accident. Previously she went to many Drs. & had a lot of tests. One of them told her that the surgeon must have cut the muscle. Was he just guessing so he'd have a reason or does this sound like the usual problem after surgery? What is the cholestryamine supposed to do? Thanks, Ann
