I am 39, and just went to the DR. today. She said she thinks I have a testbook case of IBS.
My left side is hurting as I write this. It shoots down my leg and around to my back also. I have the big D often and within 30-45 mins of eating dinner usually or a big lunch, it is usually accompanied by mucous as well. I have gas a lot also. It is harder since I travel for work and never know when it is going to hit. Diary seems to make it worse, or greasy foods. I am bloated a lot also. She prescribed Levisin .125 mg? to take 3 times a day. She said it will ease some of the symptoms, but it will make my mouth dry.

I will keep you posted on how it works.

: : Hi everyone,
: : I am new to this board and I have been reading about abdominal pain with IBS but I haven't really heard the pain described. My pain has been coming and going since my hysterectomy 2 years ago. I have been on hormones ever since. It always happens in the morning after being on my feet for a little while. It is on the left side parallel to my navel and goes down my left side. It honestly feels like trapped gas and hurts to walk or push in on it. After a bowel movement it goes away. I may get it for a few days and then it might not happen again for 6 months. I noticed stress plays a role also. Once in a while I will get the Big D with it but usually just a very large stool. My father recently passed away, my daughter had our first grandchild and my other daughter got married, so I have had a lot of stress good and bad. I am 45 years old. I am consumed with bowel function, looking for blood, worrying about the size of stool so I know this is not helping. I have also started babysitting my grandson full time while my daughter works which has required some adjusting. I am not certain what IBS really entails. I had a sigmoidoscopy 2 years ago and all was normal. Any suggestions would be very helpful.
: : Thank you,
: : Debbie
: Dear Debbie, I may not be any help, but I am 22 and I have had the same pain for about a year. I went through a million tests and the doctors couldnt find anything. I have IBS and this was a totally different pain then what IBS was. Well I even thought that it might of been endometriosis. So I had a laparoscopy done and It was the worst pain I had just from recovering from that surgery. And they of course found nothing. eventually it just went away and the reason was STRESS. My husband was gone out of the counrty for a whole year. When things got better I got better. I dont know if this will help you any but It might. Im sorry, you are going through this. lindsey
