I started out with bloating, indigestion, low back pain and some stomach pain. Dr. sent me for barium enema and upper GI. Barium Enema show 2 deteriorated discs and some diverticulitis (minor). He thought that I probably just have Irritable Bowel. I tended to believe him because I had had a similar bout with this 5 yrs ago. The upper GI looked OK. He told me to eat high fiber (for the constipation and the divertiuli.) A week after that, I (who had never had heartburn in my life) got heartburn from hell. I went back and he said it was Reflux and put me on Prevacid, which worked. Why didn't it show up on the upper GI? The heartburn in my chest area and reflux in my throat are gone, but now I hurt in my whole left side. I burn under my left rib, beside and in my left hip. Also under my sternum and to the left of it all the way over to th rip sometimes gets really sore after I eat and makes me nauseous when I push on it. When it's just hurting in one place, it's not too bad, but when my whole left side feels like it's on fire, I'm miserable. The Dr. thinks the discs are causing this pain, but I think it is something digestive. Has anyone else had a similar problem. Sorry so long.
