Important to note that IF the disease progresses, it will usually happen in 10-20 years. BUT, only about 75% progress to the point of transplant or renal dialysis. Some 30% do not progress at all. The tonsils tie in because the particular IgA protien that blocks the kidneys is largely produced in the tonsils. Definitely go look at the site the others recommended .....www.igan.org.
