about 1- 1 1/2 yrs ago i had numerous kidney infections. they would begin as UTI's, and the infection would progress up to my kidneys within a matter of hours from the onset of symptoms. i was given antibiotics, but they rarely worked. when a culture and sensitivity test was done on the bacteria it was found that the bacteria were resisitant to most antibiotics. i had a terrible doctor who let this go on for months because none of his kidney tests showed a physical abnormality. finally he prescribed uroqid acid #2 which worked well, and i had no infections for about 4 months. i switched doctors and my new doctor prescibed nitrofurontoin(sp) to take with intercourse instead of the uroqid. this worked for about 9 months, but i have begun getting UTI's regularly again. this last time i was given cipro as an antibiotic, but i am having what may be kidney pain (i also have back trouble, so i can't be certain). does anyone have any ideas? should i try to get another prescription for uroqid acid again? i am really scared. resistant bacteria are bad news, and mine appear to be flourishing. i am also living in a new area and can't get in to see a urologist for over a month.
