: : : : I have to go for a biopsy in 2 weeks... I am naturally worried , as I have never been through such a thing. Can anyone tell me what to expect , and offer advice etc. I'm extremely worried. Thanks in advance.

: : : Dear Kip

: : : I had a renal biopsy 18 months ago. Really nothing to worry about here, it is fairly painless, afterwards I just suffered a dull ache in my kidney area which subsided after a few days. Your hospital team may well insist that you remain in bed for about 24 hours, which is sensible considering a major organ is being poked and prodded!!! Hope all goes well for you. Best wishes to you.

: : Thank - you for your reply Karen , it calmed my fears a little... just the fact that they are sticking something into a kidney frightens me...
: : Thanks again.

: Kip I have just had a transplant 7 Weeks ago, while in recovery I had two biopsy in the space of 4 days having never had one I did not know what too expect, but it was pretty much painless. They numb the area before taking a sample so you feel no pain when they take the sample. the only pain is when they inject the local anthesetic. You must stay flat for 4hrs afterwards then you are fine to do anything you want. There was no after pain or aches at all You will be fine!!!!!

Joe , thank -you for taking the time to reply... I have to say you guys have made me feel a lot less anxious about the whole thing. I hope you are doing well after your transplant.
