: Last yr my husband had his first kidney stone attack. Took 7 days to finally pass one stone. Now a yr and a half later he is having another one. He is on day 4 of not yet passing it. Doc prescribed pain meds and suggested lots of water. Does anyone know about how long it takes to pass one of these things and if there is anything else he could do to help the process along? If anyone has any suggestions or answer please reply...thank you Well it can take months to totally get them all out of there- I know, I have had reacurring stones for years now,,, Even AFTER i passed them one time i stil had on and off pain for couple of months. Dr said it was b/c there were little fragments left! :( WHATEVER ya'll do tho you HAVE to save the stones! You can not find out what causes them if u don't- I didn't know this and didn't save mine ect- So strain the urine ect- or watch for them every single time u urinate- cause it's a FACT, Once someone gets K-Stones you will get them again someitme in your life UNLESS u catch them have them sent away to be analyzed ect... Good Luck
