CML is a blood disease, characterized by a high white blood cell count. Normal white counts
are between 4.5 and 10 thousand. CML is caused by a translocated chromosome,
called the Philadelphia chromosome. This translocation causes the overproduction & early release
of immature white blood cells from the bone marrow. For more detailed information, I'd suggest
going to www.medscape.com, www.lindstroem.org (my friends web site with more links), and
also check out www.newcmldrug.com (information on new CML treatment drug called STI571).
Hope this helps,
