: Hi, i'm 21 female. I've felt short of breath for about 3 years now - like I need to sigh alot. All the tests I've had (xray, bloods) have been normal except recently I had some lung function tests which weren't normal - they showed I had a very small lung volume for my height/age etc and when breathing out fast, I couldn't breath out all the air even though I felt completely empty, also I have sensitive airways but not quite asthma. The guy said it was showing possible restrictive lungs - what does that mean? I'm seeing the lung specialist again to discuss but the appointments ages away! anyone with info on this please reply!

Restrictive conditions are most treatable and reversable, for example asthma. What you don't want is OBSTRUCTIVE problems, like emphysema. I am sure you will find relief with proper treatment.
