I am 37, quit smoking 2 months ago, smoked sinse I was a teen. I have no symptoms of anything respitory-wise except a tight chest which doc says is anxiety. I read some posts here where someone found early lung cancer by a chest x-ray and was able to treat it due to early detection and recommended all smokers/ex-smokers get a yearly chest x-ray. I printed out the post and showed it to my doctor and he scoffed at it and said x-rays do no good in mortality rates of lung cancer. How could he say that? He said a chest x-ray was not neccessary, that if somehting was found, it would be "too late" anyway. Well, I insisted, and he begrudgingly wrote me a referral for one. So now, I have to get up the nerve to actually do it. Any comments? Please e-mail me at Rebecca3c@aol.com. Thanks.
