I have had a cough for 30 years and attributed it to slight asthma. My grandmother always had one, my mom slightly but I developed the cough, Recently I had a routine chest xray and ct scan and they discovered "granular substance" throughout both my lungs. The pulmonologist hasnt figured out yet what it is because they are so tiny. It looks like dandruff scattered throught the bronchial branches . I have never smoked, He is trying to decide if a biopsy is necessary. This requires a hospital stay, as they can't do a needle aspiration or use a bronchoscope because of size. My phlegm is clear though and I dont believe I have coughed the substance up. The Dr did ask me if I have had or been exposed to tuberculosis. My profession may bring me in to contact unwittingly so he suggests a TB test. Also said it could be a fungus? Have you had a TB test? I am still waiting to hear from the Dr in which direction we will go. Will keep you informed. Good Luck
