what he had done was stapling of bullae (air sacs or blisters on the lung). recurrent pneumothorax can occur.
another option is a pleurectomy (taking of the lining of the lung) which can be done via video assisted thoracoscopy.
some surgeons prefer to perform an open procedure rather than a scope. some people have a couple of pneumothorax's
and then need no further intervention. it is up to your surgeon to decide the best management method for you. discuss
with him/her the pro's and cons of having further surgery.
