My father had a collapsed lung that could not be repaired. He refused surgery after draining failed and has been sent home with a hole in his lung. They did not tell my mother or him what to expect. He is listless, forgetful and to weak to lift himself up. He is a double amputee as a result of diabetes. I am extremely frustrated that the doctors did not prepare my parents. I tell her it is the lack of oxygen, etc.
What are his survival chances and how long before we need to get more help. They are refusing any assistance at this point. If he does not have long to live I need to start to prepare my mother. I am all they have. The doctor's did not give him any oxygen to bring home either. They just said there is nothing else that can be done and just get an x-ray in 2 or 3 months. If anyone can please help by explaining the lack of compassion from his doctors and give me an idea of what to expect I would be so ever greatful.
Thank you. You may e-mail me if it would be easier.
