: : You could very easily have a life threatening lung problem, You need to see a pulmonary specialist before it's too late for them to help you. Scarring of the lungs is often called fibrosis-as in Pulmonary Fibrosis, see their Association web site.

: Is this also true for people who have had heart surgery and have scar tissue on lung? My left lung is scarred (per my doctors) and my lung feels like it is swollen, constantly hurting, I have breathing problems and I cough up thick mucus every day and night. HELP PLEASE!!!! Respond to my e-mail address. THANKS!

Hello All,
I have had scarred lungs all my life (36yrs) I have seen numerous specialits over the years and many nights hacking and wheezing. The scarring was due to Pnemonia early in life, I have had tough times in sports etc. I have only in the last few years have enjoyed trouble free breathing. What has worked for me was first and foremost exercise, on the bike whatever just keep the lungs breathing deep to increase your air volume. I now take Azmacort daily and Provetial before I work out. I clean the AC/Heater once a month (I suggest a permanent HEPA that you can clean). I know exactly how you all feel, it used to be soo bad for me I had to sleep sitting up so I would not be drowned. Hope this helps
