: To Linda
: I am 6 weeks post op from upper left lobectomy and still have much pain in back muscles to deal with. My surgeon said he didn't cut any muscles during op, but I think they must have been stretched dreadfully. How was your recovery? Am I unusual or did you have a similar experience?

TO; Linda & Maureen

I had a lobectomy of my right lung 18 months ago. Two lobes removed due to pneumonia thinking it was cancer.

Spreading the ribs do take some time to begin feeling some healing. I do not know if muscle is cut but do know that I can put my shoulder blade out without much effort and it feel that muscles have been cut. I have found that chiropratic visits helps a lot. Don't forget you were bent over on your side during the operation.

Regarding radiation therary. I know it is not a welcomed recommendation but does have some effectiveness in eradicating any missed cells. Go for it girl and remember that God is with you.

The Mayo Clinic has a good sight to check out for more detailed info and its successes.

Good luck to both of you. God Bless!
