: About a month ago I caught a nasty cold which I had for about a week and a half. I have gotten over it, but I still have a cough that lingers on and just in the past couple of days it seems to have gotten really bad. I don't have any other symptoms except this annoying cough, which at times makes me almost vomit because I start to gag. I never cough anything up, but it just feels like there is something in my throat and my chest that just won't go away, kind of like a tickle that water can't even cure. I used to work in a place with a lot of second hand smoke in the air and have had lots of respiratory problems such as repeated bouts of bronchitis which I am diagnosed with at least once or twice a year. I haven't worked in a smoky atmosphere for over a year now, so I am not sure what the problem is. Help!!!
my asthma started as a cough that wouldn't quit months before I ever wheezed. asthma can be triggered by cold, flu and other infections. over the counter inhalers are awful and dangerous. see md. good luck
