Joel...take it from someone who can trully sympathize with you on pneumo thoraxes....GET IT CHECKED OUT! I too suffered with multiple pneumos...it was my right lung when i was in my early 20's..then my left 10 yrs later(which ive now had surgery on); and very recently my right again. Ive had 6 collapses altogether..and out of the 6 only one of them was bad enough to call 911. With the others i 'coped' for a number of days..and kept thinking id 'be alright.' I too had 'odd' little pains..that i wasnt able to ignore. With this most recent collapse....i figured i just had a bad respiratory infection. My xray (YES>>an xray is what will determine this!) indicated the collapse and i was admitted to the hospital and a chest tube inserted. I was released 3 days later...only to find out a week later with a follow up appt with my dr..that the lung had collapsed again! (i honestly didnt feel that bad!) This time they did surgery.......which i am currently recovering from. Pneumos arent anything to play around with...even though the body has a neat way of 'compensating' the oxygen by letting your 'good lung' work harder...its an awful stress on your heart. Pneumos dont typically fix themselves either....if it is collapsed...it isnt going to reinflate on its own. It will only get worse. Please get seen......
