: Hi: : I am new to this form but not to lupus. Can anyone help me with this? I was in to see my family doctor and he was concerned about my thyroid tests. He wanted me to take thyroid meds but I refused. I am going to my Rhuemy in a couple of weeks and wanted her take on it since she has noted my thyroid felt swollen on a number of occations before and never perscribed any meds. What kind of connection is there with thyroid and lupus? If I start taking thyroid meds am I stuck taking them forever? Could I go without meds with no long term serious affects? Actually any information you might have on this would be a help. : Thanks in advance, : Kerrie Hi Kerrie I was deleveloped my thyroid condtion when I was 29, underactive, I am know 46. About 4 years ago I developed spots like pimples that didn't go away, about 2 years ago I was diagosed with Discoid Lupus. I also suffer from Panick Disorder and am on Zoloft, makes you wonder about Thyroid and Lupus. I've also read that Panick Disorder and Thryroid problems go together as well!!! Just food for thought.
