Hi Karen, My name is Kathy and I have been living with Lupus since I was 21. I am now 27. It is real scary not knowing what it is or how it will effect your life. You have had health problems in the past it seems so at least your kind of prepared on how to deal with something you have NO control over. I have SLE which efects your organs. Mine effected my kidney. I was born with only one and yep it got that one pretty darn fast too. I had blood work done in Aug. of 1994 and everything was fine. By Nov. 1 1994 I was in the hospital with Kidney failure. As you probably know by now it is an auto immune diseas where your body attacks itself. There are a lot of great meds out there that will help. I don't know why your doctor won't say its Lupus with out the rash. I didn't really ever have a rash. The blood work and your symptoms should do the job at telling her what it is. Is this your Primary Care Doctor that is telling your this? If so you need to go to a Rheumatoidoligist.Boy did I mess the spelling of that on that one up. If you'd like to talk you can email me at Whtezmb@aol.com.
