: Hi Karen, My name is Gail. I am a Systemic Lupus patient also. I was diagnosed in 1986. I was diabeled for 11 years and could not work but I tried very diligently to adhere to exactly what my doctor said and I am very thankful to say, I have been back in th ework force since 1997. I do have PAIN at times and when I hurt, I really do hurt but it has not afected my job duties as of yet. I was told I would never work again so you see with all the new meds out there today, even more than what they had when I was diagnosed there is hope. Don't ever give up hope. I was so determined to win the fight against this terrible disease and at least not allow it to control my life.You do get depressed and I knew nothing about this disease when I was told I had it.
