With the positive ANA from derm, that is enough to know that you are having some sort of auto immune action going on. Make an appt with the rhemotologist ASAP. In the meantime, STAY OUT OF THE SUN and wear at least a 30block sunscreen when you go outdoors, that includes in the winter. UV light is just as potent in the winter when it is snowing as it is at the beach in July. Keep covered up when outdoors and don't hang around un-sheilded florescent lights. Hair loss is usually a "thining" process, not clumps falling out where you will have bald spots. That's the good news. The bad news is that you can loose 50% of your hair---but when you are in remission, it comes back. Hair loss is the least of your problems. While you are waiting to go to the rhemotologist, get plenty of rest, eat good meals that are low fat and low or no red meats, and drink lots of water. Try to stay calm and do things that will keep you relaxed and make you feel good. Stop smoking and drinking if you do. Good health practices, while always a good idea, can make the difference betweeen life and death with some auto-immune diseases. The positve ANA does not necessarily = lupus, it just means that you are having an autoimmune response. To get a diagnosis of lupus several more tests and an evaluation by a rhemotologist will have to be made.
