In my 12 years working in a self help clearing house here in Western Australia I have only ever met one man who was diagnosed in 1990 with Lyme disease. We advertised widely hoping to make contact with others in Australia with the Lyme but were unsuccessful. I still believe there must have been other people here with Lyme but no one ever contacted us. Are there any other people living in Australia who developed Lyme as a result of being bitten by a tick?
Two of my family members (middle-aged one male one female) have multiple symptoms but remain undiagnosed. It seems we do not get tested for Lyme but rather told the conditions being multiple are difficult to diagnose. It has been suggested that there illnesses are due to contamination with a pesticide used extensively in Australia up until recent times to erradicated termites and argentine ants. Our walkways/pathways area adjacent to roadways were sprayed for the ants throughout the 40's 50's 60's and our homes heavily sprayed for termintes at frequent intervals. Is anyone aware of doctors in Australia testing for Lyme?
