: Please, please tell your doctor about the tick.

: I got bit last summer and didn't think much about it. A week later I started running into things. Then I got a terrible flu like illness. I went to the doctor about seven times. I even told him several times that I got bit by a tick and he said "Don't you think we know what Lyme disease looks like"? I got to the point I couldn't get off the bed hardly. About 8 weeks went by, and I started searching the web about Lyme. I am from New England, and I thought Lyme was only a rash and arthritis. Boy, was I surprised I had nearly all the symtpoms of Lyme, especially the nervous system ones. I didn't even KNOW Lyme could affect your nervous system. I about lost it with the doctor, and begged for antibiotics. They finally gave them to me just to get a hysterical crying woman off the phone and shut her up. Within 10 days I was so much better. I got sent to the neurologist, and she tested me for Lyme and BINGO! I have it. Now I am seeing an Infectious Diseases doctor as the Lyme has been persistant. The sooner you get help the BETTER!

: Donna :)

greetings: it's true the sooner lyme is treated the better. i've found antidepressants helpful. especially trycyclic b/c they help more oxygen reach your lg skeletal muscles... i hope oral antibiotics are sufficient for you b/c iv therapy is a nuisance to me and my family. best to you -tamra
