---I've been on Doxycycline since 5/15/00 and I'm more miserable than ever. I didn't get diagnosed until 5/12/00, but was probably infected in the summer on 1996. I think if you get the doxy after a new bite - you might be okay, but it doesn't help a bit if you've had it for any length of time. If your symptoms persist be sure to tell you doctor - IV antibiotics may be of some help (I just can't get a doctor to prescribe them)
: It is supposed to be effective if you take it in the irst few weeks of being bitten. I took it as a precation rather than wait for the rash since the tic was on me for a da or two. I also had the tick tested and it came back negative. Make sure ou take the medication following the directions. Drinking Milk or eating bread wihin three hours of a dose can render it ineffecive

: : After 2 wks, I got the bull's eye and ran to the M.D. for my 30 days of doxcyclene - twice a day.
: : My blood tests came back extremely high for Lyme and erlichiosis - my M.D. was concerned. I am still fatigued and lazy - little numbness in my left hand.
: : When I finish my doxycylene will I be cured??? I thought I would feel better and that would be the end, much like strep throat.
: : I am in denial of what Lyme/erlichiosis disease will bring to me the rest of my life?????
: : desperate for answers
