I am presently going through menopausal symptoms ie: hot flashes. I was diagnosed about 4 yrs ago with hypothyroidism. My TSH went to over 7 but I had symptoms for years but my TSH never became abnormal till much later. It has taken me almost 3 years to get the dose right now I have to deal with menopause problems. I have hot flashes, mood swings, depression, now with fullness in my throat..need to see my doc about that..had that before it was my thyroid which was enlarged. I found if you are on any anti-inflammatory medication it can effect it once you stop the medication. Isn't it great getting old! am 41 years old and have 3 active boys. I have been having symptoms of nervousness, throat spasms, digestive problems, heartburn, weight gain, breast tenderness and an excessive amount of ringing in my ears since May,1999. I can't sleep and I have been crying and worrying most of the time. I seem overwhelmed by everything and at times confused. I am very tired all the time. In 1997 I had a hysterectomy, but I still have my ovaries. I have been evaluated by different doctors who can't figure this out. I have switched physicians because I'm not getting the right help. I did have a couple of low and borderline T-4 readings but my TSH has been ok. I need advice on what these symptoms may mean. I have seen everyone from a neurologist to a heart specialist. They keep telling me it is my nerves. I have been on medication, Paxil, only 10mg, for about 3 months with no results for nervousness. Would appreciate any information on if these symptoms could be a thyroid disorder or menopause.
