In Reply to: panic disorder and early menopause........strange sensations. posted by S.k.k. on October 26, 2000 at 20:05:36:

Hi,
I hear you! I'm in sort of the same boat. Ijust turned 37 and have been having wacky periods, every 3 weeks, panic attacks before my period, clotty and heavy periods. My doctor prescribed zoloft even though I wasn't depressed. I know it's hormone related because I only have it before my period. I saw an endicrinologist who did a full panel of blood work on day 3 of my cycle. It turns out my FSH is 19 and I'm in perimenopause. Not too happy about that, but at least I know I'm not crazy. I don't want any drugs that change brain chemistry. I'm going with Progesterone called Prometrium. Maybe you should have your hormone levels tested. Good luck to you and I hope that this helps.

: Hi. I'm 37 and for the past 3 years have been

experiencing some strange stuff. I have never been the sickly type but I'm beginning to wonder if I might be premenopausal. My symptoms: "new" thick facial hair, intestinal and stomach problems, slight occasional dizziness, feeling "out of it", tired, full blown panic attacks, quick changes in blood pressure, feeling of fullness in head, heart palpitations. Am I going nuts or could I be headed into early menopause? My doctor says its stress. I still have periods but they are closer together (3 weeks). I hate this spacey feeling and would like to know if I'm the only one. I don't have hot flashes. My doctor is allowing me to take Xanax, which helps some. We tried Paxil, but that stuff made me even whackier! Does anyone else have similar symptoms. Please help. Thank you.
