I have also had some of the symtoms you describe, and it really helps to know that you're not alone! I am also 41 and thought I was way too young for anything connected with menopause, but just one irregular period prompted me to a great ob/gyn for tests, (including a work-up for thyroid). I'm taking a low-dose progestrone and going back for a follow-up visit in a couple of weeks. Good luck to everyone out there! I'll check back on this site soon to see if there are more postings. : I am 41 years old and have 3 active boys. I have been having symptoms of nervousness, throat spasms, digestive problems, heartburn, weight gain, breast tenderness and an excessive amount of ringing in my ears since May,1999. I can't sleep and I have been crying and worrying most of the time. I seem overwhelmed by everything and at times confused. I am very tired all the time. In 1997 I had a hysterectomy, but I still have my ovaries. I have been evaluated by different doctors who can't figure this out. I have switched physicians because I'm not getting the right help. I did have a couple of low and borderline T-4 readings but my TSH has been ok. I need advice on what these symptoms may mean. I have seen everyone from a neurologist to a heart specialist. They keep telling me it is my nerves. I have been on medication, Paxil, only 10mg, for about 3 months with no results for nervousness. Would appreciate any information on if these symptoms could be a thyroid disorder or menopause.
