Dear Montel, My brother's girlfriend has mental health problems. She hears voices and see's things that are not there. She has 5 children, 2 of them live with her. She is unemployed and has only medical insurance through welfare. She is seeing a doctor that accepts that insurance. Lately, she has been hospitalized every other day and then they release her. The problem is that I do not agree with the type of treatment they are providing her. She has been undergoing shock treatments. She has had 50, yes 50 treatments over the past 6 months. The shock treatments totally wipe out her memory, she has no clue as to what she is doing. She cuts herself all over her body. There are so many things that is happening to her and no one seems to care. All they want to do is destroy her mind and not take care of the actual problem. The sad part about it is that she really wants the help and has no other options that we are aware of with the type of insurance she has. Her children are basically on their own and they are only 11 and 9.
We would really like to do what ever we can, because she has a really good heart, she is a good person and what they are doing to her shouldn't even be done to an animal. Please help!
