When I began taking Paxil I was pretty skeptical of whether the medication would help with my social anxiety. Fortuneately, I have been proven wrong. I now have a new outlook on life. My social anxiety is pretty much gone. I have no difficulties talking with people now, including strangers. I am 20 years old and have never had a girlfriend. But, now I finally have the ability to talk to girls. In fact, I have even begun dating this really cute girl in my class. So far so good. The paxil wasn't working too well for the first month. It took about 2 months for my doctor to figure out the right dosage. I started out at 20mg, and now am at 60mg. The weird thing about it was that my body had trouble adjusting to the medication. At first, it made me more anxious. I had trouble sitting still, was on edge, and began to get sweaty palms. But now everything is okay. The paxil is working great. I just wish that someone would have warned me about how the medication would take effect, because my doctor almost switched me to another medication. But I told him to let me try the paxil for one more week. Luckily, everything worked out. I hope that everyone suffering from SAD considers taking medication. Just make sure you find the right med. for you, because paxil may not work for everyone. A good website to checkout is: www.social-anxiety-network.com Good Luck To All
