Unfortunately, I know EXACTLY what you're talking about. I would be lying in bed and usually, just as I would begin to drift, the voices would start up. I could hear a conversation being carried on by a group of people. I would try to listen to what they were saying. Sometimes they would shout and startle me, other times, they would just talk among themselves. It seemed that when I would really try to tune in, the chatter would stop.

It's as though this phenomenon only takes place in an altered state of consciousness, not while fully alert. But of course there is Schizophrenia, which is totally different from this. But I have not heard these voices lately the way that I have in the past. It would seem that I would really only hear them when I'm OVERLY TIRED AND STRESSED. I believe this was happening a short time after I lost a loved one too. I was hurt and stressed beyond belief. When I am at peace, and well rested, I don't tend to hear them.

So I don't think it's anything to really worry about, although it did freak me out when it first happened. And I STILL find it enormously intriguing. I still wonder where these voices actually come from. Where do they originate from? Interesting indeed, but try not to worry too much about it. Instead, make sure your well nourished, well rested, and your mind is at peace.
The mind replenishes itself during sleep, so if your suffering from insomnia, it's probably suffering from overload and this is the way that it tries to purge itself? Take the necessary steps to insure proper sleep.

Sweetest dreams,
SandyM
