I'm 23 years old and developed OCD & Major Depression towards the end of last year (luckily I still graduated college) wohoo!. I'm not one to like taking drugs and would always elect a natural cure. I just started having mental symptoms and was like woa, what is going on, am I nuts etc. So I went online and found that OCD & Major depression was a good match for what I was experiencing. With that in mind I kept off on getting that confirmed and decided I would ride out the storm. I tried high doses of St.Johns wort which I didn't know at the time but it caused even greater anxiety and at higher doses caused panic attacks. Not fun in the least. So my depression got worse because I could not function well enough to continue my job in-between semesters so I sought help. I was near my end of course, and it was bad enough that I was planning suicide as an escape. My psychiatrist confirmed that I had OCD and a severe case of depression associated with it. He started me on Zoloft. My life righted itself very slowly. 8 months later, I've finished college and work in silicon valley. I take 100mg of zoloft every morning, and I can't express enough how much I am greatful for the existence of this drug. My obsessive symptoms are down to about a total of 1 min a day, my depression waxs and wanes but it under control. I was wondering if anyone else takes zoloft for these two illnesses and wether or not they have had good results. And lastly do you have any advice as to how long I can stay on the drug, since I don't plan to start waning off it before another year or so. Thanks and God bless!
