: : I HAVE BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH MS SINCE SEPT 1998. FOR THE LAST SIX MONTHS I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING TWITCHING,MOSTLY IN MY CALVES. DOES ANYONE ELSE WITH MS HAVE THIS SYPMTOM AND IF SO HOW DO YOU TREAT IT? IT'S DRIVING ME CRAZY. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR HELP.

: Talk to your Dr about Yoga. I have found that the stretching and the relazation in Yoga (without getting into some of the funky positions) have eliminated most of mine. Now I only seem to get them in the hot weather and after over-exertion.

=================================================

Hi there i have those also in my legs mostly, and this is very good advice, i also use meditation and stretching exercises, i also use aroma baths...mainly lavender and camile shower and bath the herbal mixture relaxes the muscles and calms the spasims in my legs and back i also use an hebal tea at nite called sleepy time plus....the mixture seems to help me relax enough to drift off to sleep and get a decent nites rest, my doc said it is ok to use...do not know if those twiches affect your sleep or not but mine do, especially after i have had an active day, like going shopping, and doing quite a bit of walking, stress and over exertion also have that effect on me, the sleepy time also still allows me to wake up during the nite if my bladder decides to answer mother natures call over and over again.., some of us with MS have that problem and other sleep aids...well they are dangerous and addictive, and can knock ya out so well that you can have an accident in bed...very embarrassing to say the least ..if ya know what i mean. SO I try to stick to the meditation before bed , the warm shower or bath with lavender and camile, and my tea....and yes the real hot days or temperture changes do affect me also when it comes to twitches..all these relaxation techniques sure beat over medication and with a little pratice the results are seen within a few days or weeks, i truly hope it helps you as it has helped me, i am newly diagnosed but have had the symptoms for well over a year now , i have a great neurologist, he is the best, and very open minded, i do advise you to check with your doc though, before i try herbal solutions i always talk with him first, and run it by him and show him the product, so nothing clashes with any meds he is prescribing for you...herbs can do that.so becareful esp of folks who sell herbs and vitamins..they at times promise the world..just to make a sale.. esp when they know you have MS...but these techniques i have mentioned have worked for me, and i found them by reading some books on relaxation and meditation techniques.. also your doc can help you with what stretching exercises will be comfortalble with you....yoga is cool, also but many of those positions are not comfortable with me, so i myself just stick to the Trans meditation and simple stretching exercises, ya know, well i hope sharing my experiances helps you , but as i always say, i only speak for myself, sometimes by sharing i can help folks and sometimes i can`t..i have sites tht go step by step with begining techniques on meditation if you would like them i will post them for you...take care and Smiles, Mel
