: : i have 2 questions and i would appeciate any help. 1. does a negative spinal tap mean NO ms? 2.
: : can one of the pains associated with ms be chest pains. muscle type pains in chest. any help would be
: : appreciated. thanks

: I'm not real sure about the {neg. LP} but the chest pain and muscle pain I can relate with that is what got me started on the road to diagnosis, I felt like I was having mini heart attacks or it was skipping beats and other times I felt like someone beat the CRUD out of me in my sleep or I had a tought work out in the gym. So don't let them make you feel like you have this all in your head if thats the case, I went through it and it just makes you feel worse. Always get a second opinion!

The answer to your question about having a negative lumbar puncture is yes, you can have a negative LP and still have MS. The first time I was tested, my LP showed ogliclonal bands, which they look for as an indicator of MS, among other things. At that time, I was told that I did NOT have MS. The second time I had a LP, I had no ogliclonal bands, which would be a negative LP. However, I was diagnosed with MS at that time, based on my MRI and symptom history.

Good luck to you.
