: I was diagnosed in 1993 with lupus. Since then have been dx with secondary fibromyalgia, spinal stenosis at L4 and L5, degenerative arthritis of the spine, and frozen facet (?). Last month I had an epidural for relief of back pain and am scheduled for another next week. I seem to have a lot of the pains and tinglings that I have read about in these posts, Especially in my legs. They hurt all the time and sometimes I get sharp little pin prick pains in them. At other times I think I feel a bug or something crawling on them, but there's nothing there. Shoulder and neck pain. Hands and fingers go numb at night and sometimes during the day, like when I'm driving. Sometimes my legs have such a burning in them, that it' hard to keep them still, especially when sitting or lying down. Can lupus and MS overlap? Or are a lot of the symptoms just very similar? God bless you all.

Hi. I think that the both have alot of the same symptoms. Lupus is a connective tissue disease and nerve pain or neuropathy can result. This wierd feelings that you are feeling is caused by the nerves . Have you had an ANA done by a rheumatologist? High titers tell the docs that it's lupus. Lower tithers can mean other connective tissue diseases(RA,VASCULITIS, etc) Ny neuro has me on neurontin for the nerve pain and it is a god send. He also prescribed zanaflex for muscle spasm. Your post sound like I wrote it. I have severe neck and shoulder stiffness resulting in pain down my arm and into my hand and fingers. Everyday it seem like it's something different. Neurontin will help with the burning pain too. Good luck and let us know what happens. Judy
